The practical challenge for technology leaders is translating these developments into procurement and deployment decisions. Most AI vendors today market their models on capability metrics—accuracy, speed, language support. Ethical alignment rarely appears in feature comparison sheets.

CTOs and CIOs should start asking specific questions. Can this model’s ethical parameters be adjusted for our use case? What happens when the model encounters an ethically ambiguous prompt? Is there logging and monitoring for ethical boundary violations? How does the vendor handle updates when societal norms shift?

These questions will feel unfamiliar to many technology buyers. They will also separate vendors with mature alignment practices from those treating ethics as an afterthought.
